We are always looking for committed and reliable volunteers. Volunteering at our shelter is very rewarding, and it’s a great feeling to know you are making a positive difference in the life of a homeless animal. If you have some time to give, please consider joining our team of volunteers.
Volunteer opportunities vary, and so do the time commitments. Whether you want to walk dogs, provide translations, help with fundraisers or even do general repairs around the shelter, we’d love to hear from you. Please see the volunteer needs below for more information about how you can help.
Walking Dogs: If you live near the shelter and have a soft spot for our furry friends, becoming a dog walker could be your calling. Our dogs eagerly await their daily walks and playtime in our large fenced-in yard. Your role as a walker is crucial in ensuring our dogs are happy, well-exercised, and stress-free. Most of our walkers commit to a weekly schedule, but we also welcome those who can come less frequently. We also have opportunities for short-term replacements when a volunteer walker is away.
Socializing Cats: Our cats, most friendly, playful, and outgoing, thrive on attention. However, some are shy and greatly benefit from quiet one-on-one interactions. Your role as a cat volunteer can make a huge difference in the quality of life of our cats. Remember, happy cats are healthy cats. We welcome volunteers with kids (8 and up).
General Repairs: Minor (and sometimes major) repairs often need to be done, and if you can offer your expertise in general repairs, we can work out a schedule that suits your availability.
Transport: If you have a little time on your hands and are willing to share the backseat of your car with a dog or cat(s), we often require transport of animals to and from our vet. On occasion, we need a driver who is willing to pick up and transport an animal to our shelter. Transport is on an as-needed basis and is dependent on your availability.
Events / Fundraisers: We hold various events each year and are always looking for new and energetic volunteers. From helping sell raffle tickets to being an event coordinator, we have a range of opportunities available. Do you have an idea for an event or fundraiser, and are you willing to take the lead? We would love to hear from you to discuss how we can help make it happen.
Photography: Having great photos of our animals helps with adoption. If you are willing to come to the shelter occasionally to photograph our adoptable cats and dogs, please let us know your availability, and we’ll be happy to set something up. If you are a professional photographer, we will link your business website.
Translation: We always need help with translations from English to French. Most translations are short (average 50-300 words).
